How to Use the Search Tools
theGOspot.com’s 3 primary search tools are designed to help you locate the events you are looking for quickly and easily!
1) The Search Bar, located in the upper left of the page above the ’Sponsors’ tab (see below) can be searched by any keyword that you think your event might contain. Whether it be event title (i.e. Bill Engvall), location (i.e. Cowan Center), type (i.e. comedy), or any other words, the search engine will display results listings for any event containing the keywords you choose to search by. You will then be given more options, if desired, to further refine your search by date range or other event categories.
Helpful Hint: When searching using this tool, pick a word that would likely be more unique to that event. For example, if you wanted to search for a country concert, you wouldn’t want to search for ’concert’ as that would likely give you pages of results. Instead, search ’country’, which would only return a handful of results since it is more unique. Also, due to how the search engine indexes, if you need to look for something by city, it is more efficient use the GOtabs and city selector instead of this search bar.
2) The GOtabs©, located directly underneath theGOspot logo (see below), allows the guest to pick any one OR more of four search categories: Date, City, Venue, or Event. Upon selection, simply click the ’GO button’ to the right of the categories and the search engine will display a list of results containing your search criteria.
You will notice that these category GOtabs are ’smart’, meaning that as you select search criteria, the other fields are automatically updated to contain only information that is available within your selected criteria. For instance, if you select a date range of 3 days, the other tabs will only show you the cities, venues, and/or events that occur on those three days so that you’ll likely never perform a search that results in no events being found!
3) The green ’Quick Search Links’, located directly above and to the right of The GOtabs©, allow the guest to search for family, sports/outdoor, music & arts, or community events within the date rage you select from the ’Date’, ’City’ and/or ’Venue’ GOtabs©. This search option only searches for events that have been assigned these specific categories within the event database.
